Storyboard

1- Girl sitting on the floor with teddy, the killer is behind her but only slightly shown in the shot. The audience will only notice a slight amount of the killer but may have to double take and perhaps doubt they even saw him as the young girl has not. A tracking shot done within the fields showing the isolation of the shot.

2-A shot of the killer handling different items such as jewellery and girls toys, telling the audience that the killer has obviously killed before and is experienced in what he is doing. A close up is done on the hands so the the audience are aware of the different items and perhaps the mens hands suggest that he is quite strong?

3-The girl is then running through the woods and appears to be running from the killer, we see the red ribbon in her hair fall to the floor. The bright red of the ribbon catches the eyes of the audience and they know that she has dropped something. A panning shot is done to show the area and space of which the girl is running through.

4-Then changes back to the killers hands, he appears to be crossing something off of a notepad, but as the shot is not particularly close the audience are still unsure  of what the writing says. The hard and straight line through the writing shows the precision of the killer once again letting the audience know the killer has experience.

5-Medium close up of the killer stood next to the ribbon showing that he has spotted the item, bending down to pick up the ribbon. The shot shows the killers legs and only goes to his waist- the audience never see his face which creates an enigma code.

6-A close up is done on the killers hand showing him clasping the ribbon tightly, almost showing the anger and determination he has. The bright colour of the ribbon contrasts with the dull almost dirty look of the killer and his surroundings.
7- The killer is then seen with a young girls dolly and appears to be tidying it up, this makes the audience feel uncomfortable due to the eerie feeling of what he doing, this is done with quite a close up shot of the killer once again not ever seeing his face.

8- A medium long shot is then done on the little girl, who is hidden behind a tree hugging her teddy and panting. This shows the audience that she has obviously been running quite long and quite fast but the would act as a peak (peaks and valleys) as the audience would think that the girl was safe and had gotten away.

9- A medium long shot is used to show the killer grabbing the girl and showing the audience she has been caught by the killer but they are unaware of what is going to happen next.

10-There is then a long shot done of the killer walking away and the ribbon is seen hanging in the tree, although this does not actually tell the audience whether the girl has been killed of not, they are aware that something has happened to her.

Camera shots

Very Long shot (VLS)- The very long shot shows the viewer the background or the ‘geography’ of the scene. If a scene was being filmed on a beach, they may use this shot so that the viewer is sure of where the person is. By using this in our title sequence we were able to establish the where abouts of the shot and the isolation of the character.
Long Shot (LS)-
This shot is used so that we can see the whole body of the person, it differs to a VLS because you cannot see as much about where the person is located. This could be used within our title sequence to show the difference within the character e.g. there is a young girl who is smaller than the killer which shows the audience the domination and power the killer has creating tension.
Medium long shot (MLS)-
This shot is usually used to show the person typically from the head to the knees (not always), this way you are still able to see part of the background but you are also able to see other people that may be in the shot. This could be used show the characters in a title sequence so that the audience are aware of who they are suppose to concentrate on.
Medium Shot (MS)-
The medium shot is used to show parts of the person in more detail, it is also accurate as to how you would see a person in the flesh. When having a conversation with someone you would find you were concentrating more on their upper body then you would on their lower body.
Medium Close Up (MCU)- The medium close up is most likely to be used for the news as an interviewing shot but also is used in films; this is so you are able to concentrate fully on the person in the shot.
Close Up (CU)- When a close up is used it is usually so that you can see the full face of the person who is in the shots, this shot can also be used in interviews when things are getting personal or emotional. This was used within our title sequence when the young girl is stood in-front of the tree to show the frightened look on her face, this in turn would make the audience feel frightened for the girl.
Big Close Up (BCU)- This shot is used for quite dramatic moments, if an actor was doing a very personal speech this shot would be used as it’s a very intimate shot. Although we had no dialogue within our title sequence, this could have been used if the girl was talking or shouting for help.
Extreme Close Up (ECU)- This shot is used to show the detail within something, it would normally be used in a very dramatic scene to show the emotions or reactions of the person. For some time we did think about doing an ECU on the girls face as the killer captures her, but in the end we decided this would be too much.

By using a variety of different camera angles and shots, we were able to create a thriller type feel to the title sequence we were creating.

Shooting schedule

When sitting down to decide different times to record our title sequence we first decided that as it was the Christmas holidays it might be particularly difficult to arrange times that we were all free, this meant that we had to talk for quite some time about the different possibilities. However this was not the only thing we needed to decide on, we felt that our shooting schedule needed to be focused around particular time and weather.

As we felt that we needed to create an eerie feeling to the title sequence we should record quite early in the morning or late at night, but due to the fact we were using a particularly young actress we decided that the timing needed to be appropriate for her. We also felt that the film needed realism and not many young children are allowed out late at night so we decided not to go ahead with that Idea.

We then went on to discuss the weather, as it was mid to late December we were lucky enough to not actually have to plan on a certain day for a type of weather. The cold, bleak and frosty weather was bound to be about for another month or so and this meant that we then just decided on the days.
Unlike many other groups who decided to spread the recording over a week or two period, we decided to record within just one day. Some may feel this is not a clever idea, when in fact it worked perfectly for us! We chose one day we were all free and recorded for many hours getting as much footage as we could and we ended up with some great results.

Location shots

We decided that this type of location would be perfect for starting off our title sequence, the loneliness and isolation of the scenery is obvious even within the shots and so we felt that we could use this idea of isolation to maximize the suspense the audience feel when they realize that the young girl and the killer are alone and no one else is round.

We then moved to another isolated area, but the only difference was the fact that we began with a large and open space. This space gives a very closed off and almost compact feel due to all of the trees and sticks that are surrounding the area, creating an enigma code for the audience as they are unsure on whether the young girl will be able to escape the killer or not.

We then decided to use a particularly large tree within the title sequence, we decided that having the young girl hidden behind a large tree would act as an enigma code to the audience as they would begin to think that she had managed to hide and escape from the killer. However this is not actually the case which is seen when the killer places his hands on the young girls shoulders.
